A visual dialogue between past and present, capturing the evolving spirit of our shared community in Covington, Kentucky. This project pairs historic photographs—sourced from the Kenton County Library archives, dating from the 1970s and 1980s—with contemporary images I have captured of the same locations, framed within the same perspectives andcompositions.

The project reveals a layered narrative of transformation: some details have shifted with time, reflecting the growth, redevelopment, and adaptation of our neighborhoods, while other elements remain steadfast—a testament to the enduring character and identity of the places we call home.

This visual exploration honors the dynamic relationship between place and people. It reminds us that while architecture, streetscapes, and skylines may change, the soul of a community is cultivated by the collective experience of its residents—past and present. It celebrates the intertwining of history with today’s lived reality, inviting reflection on how we as individuals and neighbors shape and maintain the fabric of our environment.

“Covington Reframed” seeks to foster a deeper awareness and appreciation of our evolving local landscape, encouraging connection across generations and inspiring active participation in the ongoing story of our community.
