About Me

LAUREN AVERY

Art has always been more than a profession for me—it’s a lifeline, a sanctuary for self-expression and healing. My journey in photography and videography began at 16, sparked by curiosity and fueled by a growing need to connect with the world around me. Over time, what started as a passion evolved into Pointedlens, LLC, and led me to collaborate with leading icons such as YouTube sensation Nelk Boys, Zak Folkman, Atlantic Records, and more.

As my career progressed, I found myself drawn away from the surface-level glamour and back to the raw, unguarded moments—the heart of what drew me to this craft. Through lived experience and personal reflection, I’ve come to understand the profound impact creative expression has on mental health—not just for myself, but for countless others navigating their own struggles. For many, including myself, art serves as an essential coping mechanism, providing a safe, judgment-free space to process emotions and experiences that can be hard to voice.

Art therapy is a well-established practice that helps reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and even physical symptoms linked with chronic health challenges. Creative pursuit fosters self-esteem, builds emotional resilience, and encourages the release and understanding of deeply rooted feelings, offering a unique and healing form of self-connection and social communication. It is through this lens that I see photography and videography—not as a means to produce perfection, but as a portal for honest human connection and mental wellness.

My mission with the Pointedlens chain is to use my art as an advocate for mental health awareness. I strive to capture the real, imperfect moments that reflect our collective human experience and to spark conversations about the essential role of art in healing and self-discovery. I want my images and videos to resonate deeply, offering comfort and recognition to those who might be struggling, and to remind us all of the power and necessity of being truly seen—by others and by ourselves.
